Who do we say is beautiful? (Life questions series)

The meaning of beauty
The term 'beauty' has diverse meanings. It's core definition as it is defined in the dictionary and other places, is the quality of being pleasing to the senses or to the mind. It could also mean a pleasing feature or a peculiar advantage. It means someone or something that is beautiful( attractive and possessing charm)
According to Merriam Webster, beauty is the quality of being physically attractive. Every body around the world has a personal conviction of what beauty is; people subjectively locate beauty in their fellow human beings and in individual objects or actions.

Who is a beautiful man or woman?
The purpose of this article is to discuss beauty as it is applicable to human beings. To be a beautiful man or woman, does it mean to be physically attractive or sexy? Does it mean to be rich?  does it mean to be intelligent? Or does it mean some other thing that might be subjective to an individual?

The Conventional Idea of Beauty In our Society Today
Many people in our society see beauty as the quality of being physically attractive. Some others see beauty as how rich you are; if you are rich, then you can have anything you want. I wonder why people should call that beauty. Some others look beyond the physical appearances and consider beauty in the behaviour of men. Today, beauty in men is seen as possessing intelligence, tallness with a sexy body, sense of humour, dominating in character, wealth, tattoo, respect, confidence and all other popular traits that make people see one as beautiful. People consider a woman beautiful when she possesses large hips, large breasts, radiant skin, tattoo on her body, pierced skin, submissive attitude, and other traits people thinks make a woman beautiful.
Does it mean that those that do not possess this trait are not beautiful?

Harms of These Conventional Idea of Beauty
1) Sense of imperfection: This idea of beauty as being physically attractive or possessing charm has done more harm than good. We live in a superficial world, where people judge and place high premium on physical appearance. Infact, the media is replete with adverts on the various ways to improve our appearance on a daily basis. It has succeeded in creating a feeling of imperfection in most people ( especially women ) giving them the impression that they are not perfectly created by God. They believe that the way they are is not okay, and something extra needs to be added. This feeling of imperfection results in the quest for physical beauty which makes most people, especially women, embark on certain surgeries and injection of harmful substances into their body, in the name of enhancing their physical appearance. This feeling of imperfection has led many to apply temporal beauty, and which often times cost them their lives or expose them to dangerous ailments like cancer.
2) It breeds jealousy and envy: Another demerit of this idea of beauty is that it breeds envy among people. Those who feel that they are ugly will start becoming envious of those people considered as beautiful.
This Idea of beauty facilitates lust: The core reason why some people want to perfect their physical appearance is to attract the opposite sex or the same sex (in terms of homosexuals and lesbians). It has made people to go from one relationship to another and at the same time contracting diseases. It has increased lust in the sense that when a man sees a girl more beautiful than his wife or girlfriend, he quickly dumps the latter and goes after the more beautiful one. Another example is when a man sees a girl physically attractive, the first thing that comes to his mind is to have a time with her on bed. It helps to increase lust.
And so many other harms the idea of physical appearance does to people.

Attaining The True Beauty
True beauty is not physical appearance or looks, your physical appearance will fade one day; true beauty is not wealth; true beauty is not how confident you are; true beauty is not the possession of any widely recognized and desired attributes; and true beauty is not the conventional style of beauty.
True beauty springs from virtue! It is spiritual attractiveness. This is the kind of beauty that really matters and the only kind of beauty that lasts. It is the kind of beauty that shines from the inside out. It is the kind of beauty that doesn't wash off. It is the beauty of being chaste and morally clean, your inner beauty glows in your eyes and in your face.
Someone said, "... true beauty radiates from the most beautiful feature in the world-- the 'pure' heart. Other words that describe the attractiveness include kindness, compassion, gentleness, sweetness, mindfulness, and selflessness. This beauty does not come from injecting harmful substances, surgical operations, or applying beauty products.
True beauty comes from the inside. It can only be seen in someone whose sins have been washed by Christ's atoning blood. It is only in Jesus you can find true or inner beauty. Come to him today by repenting of all sins and he will make your life beautiful inside out. Thereafter, you need to press on to sanctification ( purity of the heart ). A sanctified person  is dead to sin, world and self. He or she is free from inward struggle to overcome sin. To attain this experience, you need to desire it, devote your life to God, pray in faith "And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our lord Jesus Christ" ( 1 Thessalonians 5:23).
Attaining this experiences will bring about a noticeable transformation that makes you Christlike; you will be compassionate, thoughtful, meek, gentle, and loving. These are what make one beautiful.
Conclusion
To attain true beauty, you need to follow the lord Jesus Christ, and let his grace make you live a life of Holiness, and let your God like attributes and lifestyle be the attractiveness to your inner beauty.

The covenant we ought to make (meat for the soul)

What is covenant? Covenant is an agreement, either between people, or between God and a person or a group of people. When we deliberate deeply on our lives, we realize that most of our relationships with people involves a covenant, and we may be conscious or unconscious about it. In fact, the life we are living in our societies today is a covenant. People are getting along today because everyone is keeping his or her own part of the covenant. For instance, as a normal citizen of a state, you adhere to the laws and customs of the state, and the state in turn protects your rights as a citizen and provide social amenities for you. This is an example of a covenant. You are keeping your own part of the covenant by abiding to the laws of the state, and the state will keep its own part by protecting your rights as an abiding citizen whenever it is infringed on. You can see that there is an agreement. What is the purpose of this agreement between the state and the citizen? The purpose of th...

Let's reciprocate his love

This new year, we should avoid requesting for love and blessings without any plans on how to reciprocate such love. As we have crossed over into the new year, we look onto God and pray for healing, prosperity, progress, success, provision, happiness, wealth, and lots more. All these things we demand are what will make us happy, but we don't care about how to make the one that gives us all these things happy. Many don't care about the happiness of God; they do the will of men and not the will of God. This year, as we demand blessings from God, let us endeavor to make him happy also. The peculiar thing about the love of God is that he loves every one even those that are living in sin, he still loves them. But his pain is that sinners won't be able to make Heaven, because Heaven can never accommodate unrighteous people. You know how it feels when a man loves his wife dearly, and his wife fails to give him attention. It makes the husband unhappy, but he continues to endure and...

Our new garment in 2019

Happy new year everyone! I congratulate everyone that crossed over to this new year, and I pray that the grace of the Almighty God will continue to direct your paths this year. I could remember that young boy with a bright future. He was very intelligent, his academic scores were excellent, his was full of life, everything about him was just going fine and he was happy. It was unbelievable and a rude shock to me when the news of his demise got to me on easter Sunday 2018. I was unstable and I asked, " what happened to that handsome and happy boy? A boy full of life, no one saw his death coming, no one expected it, but the fact is that he is gone. Now we have crossed over to the new year, and we pray and ask for prosperity and developments in every aspect of our life, and we ignore the most important aspect of our lives. We see it as old fashioned or that we are still young for that, or that we know that it is important but we keep it aside till we achieve our ambitions.  That i...
