This new year, we should avoid requesting for love and blessings without any plans on how to reciprocate such love. As we have crossed over into the new year, we look onto God and pray for healing, prosperity, progress, success, provision, happiness, wealth, and lots more. All these things we demand are what will make us happy, but we don't care about how to make the one that gives us all these things happy. Many don't care about the happiness of God; they do the will of men and not the will of God. This year, as we demand blessings from God, let us endeavor to make him happy also.
The peculiar thing about the love of God is that he loves every one even those that are living in sin, he still loves them. But his pain is that sinners won't be able to make Heaven, because Heaven can never accommodate unrighteous people. You know how it feels when a man loves his wife dearly, and his wife fails to give him attention. It makes the husband unhappy, but he continues to endure and love his wife. Same goes for our relationship with Christ, he is unhappy when we don't serve him but he still loves us, only that he won't allow us to enter Heaven if we are unrighteous.
Many have not reciprocated the greatest love Christ gave to mankind: His love for us by shedding his blood at the cross of Calvary for the remission of our sins. Even, many have repented but they are still making God unhappy, not reciprocating his endless love
This year, I pray that we will reciprocate the love of our lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
Why should we reciprocate the enless love of our Lord Jesus Christ?
Because he showed us love by sacrificing his self at the cross of calvary and he wants us to make heaven and he provides our needs. The true way to Heaven is absolute love for God by living with uncompromising righteousness.
How can we attain the heart to love God?
Their are two important ways to attain the heart to love God:
1). To attain the heart to love God, we must first accept Jesus as our personal lord and Savior, and repent of our sins; living in righteousness. This is the experience of salvation.
2) Another way we can acquire the heart to love God is to have the experience of sanctification. It is only through the grace of God that we can have this experience. Without this experience it is impossible to love God absolutely. If the heart is not sanctified, we will be making the mistakes of committing sin and backsliding.
Sanctification means inward purity and removal of the urge to sin. It cannot be gotten through human efforts, but through the power of God. Through the grace of sanctification, Jesus Christ cleanses and expunges all filthiness from your innermost being.
"Having therefore all these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all fithiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God" (2 Corinthians 7:1)
It is not enough to accept the lordship of Christ; it is not enough to manifest the fruits of the spirit, you must be totally free from the grip of adamic nature.
To get sanctified, you need to recognize your need for this experience and have a deep hunger for it. Be ready to give up everything that might stand in the way of getting this experience. Then, ask in prayer until you get it and your joy will know no bounds.
Evidence of sanctification:
Purity of heart, love, unity, meekness, inner victory from sin.
How to demonstrate love to Christ
We can only demonstrate love to Christ by living in righteousness, obeying his commandments and avoiding sin, and also scrutinizing our heart to know if we are still in the right track of Holiness. We also show love to God by loving our fellow humans as we love ourselves.
