Nigerians swimming in the ocean of sorrow in Libya

The pains were much; the sufferings seemed endless, and tears flowed like a river. When every efforts to make things better proved futile, they hollered. The hollering was loud, but when listened to closely, one cannot tell its contrast with a sorrowful wail. The insincerity of our leaders, and the state of nature our country found itself, blinded their eyes to their future and hardened their hearts not to wait on their potentials. Hence, they were moved by hope that was like a mustard seed, to do whatever it takes to get to that land, where deceptive mouths attested to the milk and honey flowing there, but forgetting to tell them that the milk and honey had already soured.

They wanted to be out of the country as soon as possible. They could no longer tolerate the mess in the country. They wanted to fly to that country where many had assured that it is better there. They didn't even mind if the country was better than their homeland or not. They just wanted to be out of Nigeria. Their dream was to runaway from their homeland and deny it. Because since their country had subjected them to suffering, they had to look for another country that will relieve them of their burdens.  They knew also that since they cannot afford proper documentation to fly to that country where things could get better, the journey will not be an easy one since they would have to travel through illegal means. They were warned prior to their journey about the horrors of the journey. But they paid deaf ears to warnings. They just wanted to get out of Nigeria! And they gave human traffickers the opportunity to prey on their desperateness and impatience. Excited they were when they left Nigeria, but their sorrow began when they were in the middle of the journey. A point of no going back. What would one expect from a journey of four months; many of them were disposed like chickens on the river, while many were left to rot in the desert.

Those that were able to make it to Libya found themselves in another worst problem. Many of them fell into wrong hands of sex traffickers and many of them were arrested by the state police. Currently, many Nigeria citizens are victims of torture, incessant rape, organ harvesting, and forced labour.

Due to what Nigerians are passing through in libya, phloxsweet enjoins the Nigerian government not to relent in negotiating with the Libyan government to bring back the Nigerians still suffering there. And phloxsweet also enjoins people around the world to pray for Nigerians still treated as slaves in Libya, so that God will be with them. Please include that in your prayers this week.

The covenant we ought to make (meat for the soul)

What is covenant? Covenant is an agreement, either between people, or between God and a person or a group of people. When we deliberate deeply on our lives, we realize that most of our relationships with people involves a covenant, and we may be conscious or unconscious about it. In fact, the life we are living in our societies today is a covenant. People are getting along today because everyone is keeping his or her own part of the covenant. For instance, as a normal citizen of a state, you adhere to the laws and customs of the state, and the state in turn protects your rights as a citizen and provide social amenities for you. This is an example of a covenant. You are keeping your own part of the covenant by abiding to the laws of the state, and the state will keep its own part by protecting your rights as an abiding citizen whenever it is infringed on. You can see that there is an agreement. What is the purpose of this agreement between the state and the citizen? The purpose of th...

Let's reciprocate his love

This new year, we should avoid requesting for love and blessings without any plans on how to reciprocate such love. As we have crossed over into the new year, we look onto God and pray for healing, prosperity, progress, success, provision, happiness, wealth, and lots more. All these things we demand are what will make us happy, but we don't care about how to make the one that gives us all these things happy. Many don't care about the happiness of God; they do the will of men and not the will of God. This year, as we demand blessings from God, let us endeavor to make him happy also. The peculiar thing about the love of God is that he loves every one even those that are living in sin, he still loves them. But his pain is that sinners won't be able to make Heaven, because Heaven can never accommodate unrighteous people. You know how it feels when a man loves his wife dearly, and his wife fails to give him attention. It makes the husband unhappy, but he continues to endure and...

Our new garment in 2019

Happy new year everyone! I congratulate everyone that crossed over to this new year, and I pray that the grace of the Almighty God will continue to direct your paths this year. I could remember that young boy with a bright future. He was very intelligent, his academic scores were excellent, his was full of life, everything about him was just going fine and he was happy. It was unbelievable and a rude shock to me when the news of his demise got to me on easter Sunday 2018. I was unstable and I asked, " what happened to that handsome and happy boy? A boy full of life, no one saw his death coming, no one expected it, but the fact is that he is gone. Now we have crossed over to the new year, and we pray and ask for prosperity and developments in every aspect of our life, and we ignore the most important aspect of our lives. We see it as old fashioned or that we are still young for that, or that we know that it is important but we keep it aside till we achieve our ambitions.  That i...
